I've Decided That This Makes Me a Trophy Wife

*ahem*

Be it known that The Artist Formerly Known as Daddy Shortbread (Tom) is now 40!

Four decades. the Big 4-0. Forty. Four times older than when he was 10. TEN times as old as our cats. Half as old as 80. Fully in a different decade from me (at least for another year and a half).

He's slightly bothered by it, which I take as an open invitation for ridicule. (Feel free to participate in the comment section). I mean, come on, 40 is the new 28 thanks to hair dye, Botox, and the judicious use of Photoshop. And as a man, he doesn't even have to worry about going gray. Salt-and-pepper is considered downright hot on guys thanks to George Clooney.

Besides, I happen to think that he's aged delightfully, and I do appreciate his gallantry in testing the waters by turning 40 first. Before me. Who's still only 38. And merely 9.5 times as old as the cats.

Happy Birthday, sweetheart!

Happy Birthday to him! And you enjoy that year and a half difference. I gloat over the 5 month difference between me and my hub.

I've been 40 for eight months and it hasn't been a problem at all. In fact, for some reason, I've found it rather liberating.

As you know, your dad takes great pride in being 12 months minus 5 days YOUNGER than me. He rubs it in every chance he gets. However, he wasn't pleased when I started getting senior discounts before he did. So, it all evens out in the end. :) Happy 40th Birthday to our son-in-law who will never catch up to me no matter how hard he tries! I don't want to hear a single word of whining when you turn 40, BTW. If I do, I will remind you of this post about Tom.

Happy Birthday Tom!! I found 40s to be liberating, too. Finally a grown up and the only people who don't take you seriously are your kids. But they really never do anyway, so who cares?

My husband will be 50 in July. That will be fun. He's a cradle robber, as I'm 5 years younger than him. (you do the math)

Um. Thanks, honey? Sharpen your pencil and start drafting your revised "about me" on this blog to take out that 30-something part. But anyway, you'll always be my trophy wife, no matter what our ages. Disturbing is that last night I found myself forced to park at a funeral home across the street from my destination, and today I found myself in traffic behind a delivery truck for a casket manufacturer. What portents?

Well here's the thing, I'd love to joke on him but as I'm about to turn FIFTY, it would be untoward of me! Happy birthday!!

Happy birthday to him! I'm a full decade a few months younger than him. I wasn't even in high school when he graduated from college. I'm just saying...

I like that you consider yourself a trohpy wife now. Classic.

Son, 40 is a piece of cake; 50 is mildly upsetting; 60 ia a real awaking; then you wonder if you will actually make it to 70; so don't worry one moment about 40, you are now in the best years of your life and mature, so look forward to the next 10. Love you. Dad

Honey, every birthday is a great day. Grab this new year by the tail and hang on for the ride of your life and enjoy every second, minute and hour and learn something new with every breath you take.
What a joy you have been to your Dad and me :-)
Love you with all my heart. Mom
