See Bug Read

Scene: Last night. Nine-year-old Bug is reading on the living room couch, while Tom and I sat chatting at the dinner table.

Bug: Hey, Dad, what does "litigate" mean?

Tom: To take legal action against someone.

Bug: Ohhhh. What about "paleolithic"?

Tom: Um, like, prehistoric.

Bug (chuckles): OK. Heh. That's funny.

(ten seconds later)

Bug: What about "indigenous"?

Tom: WHAT are you reading?

Bug: The Far Side. It's this really funny comic book I found downstairs.
Funny, and apparently, educational!

I love The Far Side!

My girls and I read those for years. Also, Calvin and Hobbes. Those things never get old and we still talk about them more than one would think. (they're 25 and 20 now)

That is great!
PS, I have a couple vehicles that desperately need cleaning.

Our girls love Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side. For some reason, Pete let them also read "Pearls Before Swine," which I had to take away due to inappropriate content.

Tell Bug that Papa has plenty of other books she might be interested in reading - the entire Calvin & Hobbes series, for one.

At the rate she's reading, she'll soon be ready for War and Peace!

Has Bug read all of the Harry Potter books yet?

I saw "10th. Anniversary" on the Far Side cover. Perhaps this comic book provided entertainment to Daddy Shortbread thirty years or so ago and it was "found" by Bug in some as yet unpack boxes in the basement?? Grandpa

Yes, she's also a big Calvin and Hobbes, and Peanuts fan. I guess some humor is timeless.

Grandpa - It's a book of mine from years and years ago!
