Scene: yesterday, in the minivan, in which I attempt to mess with my kid.
Me: Hey, Bug, we still haven't gotten out the Easter baskets. What do you think Easter Bunny would do if you didn't leave your basket out? Do you think he wouldn't leave any candy?
Bug: No, I assume he would provide a container for me.
Now I ask you, what nine-year-old talks like that? "Provide a container"? Are you kidding me?

To cute. I can relate with your last post. I am thinking homeschooling come junior high except I'd need a tutor. It is amazing how much they are influenced by their peers!
Oh my, so proper.
I can totally relate. Been interviewing my 9 year old the past two days. Her responses to my prompts have been fun to see unfold.
Bug,
Rarely "assume", because as a Judge once told grandpa during a jury trial in response to grandpa saying, "Your, Honor, I assume the [whatever]", "Counsel, when you "assume", you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me" [Ass-u-me]. Otherwise, Bug, you were right on and perhaps the "container" would be made of candy also!! Grandpa
Fortunately the Easter baskets were gotten out in due time so Easter Bunny didn't have to "provide a container." Bug noticed that EB left one little carrot on the plate. She sniffed it and advised us all that it "smells like rabbit." We promplty advised her to throw it away because none of us cared to eat said leftover carrot.
