Spring Approaches

Behold the weensy little tips of daffodils pushing out of the soil:

This makes me ridiculously happy. The air was mild and spring-like yesterday, despite the foot of snow still blanketing our entire yard. And, yes, in Maine 46 degrees qualfies as "mild" and "spring-like." After a winter like we've just been through, you take what you can get. Lately I've taken to visiting garden centers just to smell the dirt and fertilizer, not unlike a crack addict seeking a fix. It's not something I'm necessarily proud of, but it keeps me sane. Relatively.

While I was sniffing dirt and prodding daffodil tips, Bug whipped out her jump rope and began galloping up and down the recently de-iced driveway.

She was more than happy to jump in place for me while I snapped pictures.

You may not know this about Bug, but she's a bit of a hamhock when she knows that people are taking pictures of her.

Really, this kid's a total goof.

In fact, you might say that she's a bit of a drama queen. I would just like to go on record as saying that I have NO IDEA where she would have gotten that trait from.

Eventually, though, she got tired of mugging for the camera and went back to her galloping. It's good to be a kid when Spring is coming. She knows that soon we'll be getting out the bikes, scooters, and balls. I know she knows that because she asks me everyday when we can get those out, and after thinking about slogging through the snow to the back shed, I just answer vaguely, "Uh, soon, honey."

Of course, today we're getting four inches of snow. BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THAT, ARE WE??

I do not care to see any more snow this year, so please make it all disappear before I arrive on Tuesday. That gives you 48 hours to run around the yard with your blow dryer on the highest setting. See you at the airport!

I'm going to put that on my priotity list right between "toe-picking" and "shaving the cats." See you Tuesday!

I'm not sure what a prio"tity" list is, but I think I'd like to see it.
